How it works

The main components of "Display URL Voodoo" are: domain name, folders, and "casing" (how you mix upper and lower case). I have tricks I use for all of these, but more importantly is how you blend them together.
Many advertisers just come up with ONE display URL and think they're done. And they use that for every adgroup and every keyword. That's very limited thinking. And you're leaving money on the table (unless by 1 in a million stroke of luck you did guess the best display URL, and that same URL is the best for all your keywords!)
 

Domain names

At least try some different domain names. It's not reasonable to try 100 different ones. But like headlines, at least try different styles. You can easily use different domain names for the same site. So many people think you can only have one domain per site. But if you're spending non-trivial money on Adwords you really owe it to yourself to try different domains.
 
You may think "ipodcity.com" is the best. But if a lot of your traffic comes from variations of "video iPod" searches, you should try something like "videoipodcity.com" (and suffixes other than "city"). You can get a new domain name for as low as $5.99 a year. And with decent hosting it should be free to "park" a lot of domains, so your site can go under different domains within the same account.
 
It doesn't mean you're renaming your site. It just means people see if under a different domain name.
 
I'll bet that no matter what domain name you're currently using, you could do better, in terms of Adwords CTR.
